Labor and Delivery

At Stewart Memorial Community Hospital, our staff is devoted to you and your baby to make sure that the birth of your child is a joyful experience. We offer parents a full range of services to make sure you get the care, pampering and keepsake moments you’ve dreamed about—not to mention our private, soothing and luxurious accommodations.

The Stewart Memorial Community Hospital OB department offers complete obstetrical services including labor and delivery, cesarean section, postpartum and newborn care. In the OB wing, you will find modern and beautiful labor, delivery and postpartum suites.

LABOR SUITE AMENITIES:

Comfortable, serene and secure atmosphere
Warm, modern accommodations including flat screen television and DVD player
Whirlpool tub in a spacious, private bathroom
Birthing beds for the most comfortable labor and birthing positions
Extra sleeping accommodations for your support person
Internet access

Specially trained nurses on each shift care for both you and your new baby and attend to your every need. Your baby stays with you as much as you desire so you can learn your newborn’s unique behaviors. Our nurses consider teaching postpartum and newborn care a top priority and they provide hands-on teaching tailored to your specific needs. An OB nurse is on staff 24 hours a day and available to answer questions at anytime. We also offer lactation specialist consultations to help ensure successful breastfeeding techniques.

Before you go home, baby care lessons are provided for the whole family and a celebration dinner is sent home with the new parents. After you go home, your care providers are available to answer your questions from home.
